SDCC to Suspend Hawks Athletic Program Operations for 2023-24 Season

Dear Hawk Fans,

 

On March 28th, 2023 it was announced to the athletic staff, coaches, and athletes the decision confirmed by the San Diego Christian College Board of Trustees to suspend the athletic department, effective at the completion of the Spring 2023 semester. This decision has been carefully and prayerfully considered. Given the current realities of our accreditation status, administrative and operational challenges, and a campus relocation, it is most prudent to pause athletic operations for a short time. We have delayed official communication to date to allow our Spring sports to complete their seasons.

 

This has a dramatic effect on the student-athletes that attended and competed for San Diego Christian College during the 2022-23 academic year. As such, while we hope to retain some of our student-athletes to continue and complete their degree at SDCC, all our athletes have been granted their release from San Diego Christian College.

 

It is the intent of the institution’s leadership that this is a one-year pause with SDCC Athletics active and competing in the 2024-25 academic year. During the suspension of competition, every effort will be made to hire staff, secure facilities for training and competition, recruit on-mission student-athletes, and develop a robust and thriving department that serves and honors the Institution.

 

I believe with all my heart that the Lord has a great future in store for SDCC, our coaches, and athletes; past, present, and future, and that the brightest days of on-field success and off-field impact for the Kingdom are before us.
