TEMECULA, Calif. – The San Diego Christian College Hawks conceded an early second-half goal to fall 0-1 to the Vanguard University Lions on Saturday at Galway Downs. The loss moves SDCC's record to 3-3-3 on the season and 0-1 in the Golden State Athletic Conference.
The Hawks would come out on the attack early in the match. SDCC striker, Ashley Galvan, would force the Lion keeper to make two saves in the first ten minutes of play. It would take Vanguard until the 40th minute to put a shot on frame and force SDCC keeper Kassandra Ramirez to stop the shot. The evenly matched first half would lead to a nil-nil score line at the break.
The Lions would strike quickly in the second half, putting what would be the only goal into the SDCC net less than two minutes in. The Hawks would create four chances for themselves in the minutes that followed, but none would equal the score. Ramirez would keep San Diego Christian in the match until the very end making 5 of her 6 saves in the half. As the minutes ticked away, so did SDCC's chance at an equalizer. The match would end in the Lions' favor.
