TEMECULA, Calif. – The San Diego Christian College Hawks played to a 2-2 draw with the visiting William Jessup University Warriors on Saturday at Galway Downs earning the team their first conference point of the season.
A quick goal by the Warriors in the 4th minute put the Hawks in an early hole. Jessup would continue to have most of the offensive opportunities throughout the rest of the first half, but SDCC's defense, anchored by keeper Kassandra Ramirez, was equal to the task.
San Diego Christian would get their breakthrough five minutes into the second half when offensive stalwart, Ashlyn Edwards, made the most of an opportunity provided by Brianna Figueroa.
Jessup would respond with a goal ten minutes later to retake a one-goal advantage. The Hawks would continue to battle and Edwards would once again be equal to the task. SDCC midfielder, Isabella Coronado, would collect a ball at midfield, streak down the right sideline and play a through ball onto Edwards who finished cleanly.
The Hawks would go on to outshoot the Warriors in the half 11 to 5, but would not be able to gain the advantage. The game would end in a 2-2 draw.
